Information About Coaching

Registration

Volunteers must register to be a coach or assistant coach, as well as pass a background check and complete Concussion Awareness Certification. Please click here to register and complete the background check form.

Team Rosters & Email

Head coaches and assistant coaches can access their team rosters and send email to their teams by logging on to their account on the registration system. Coaches should also familiarize themselves with how to use their Team Webpage and receive player notifications. Here is a link to our Coaches' Corner for news and updates, click here.

Coaching Certification

Certifications are not required in order to coach in GEYA but if you're interested in getting your coaching certification, monitor the current courses being offered by the EPYSA here.

Coaches’ Equipment

All the necessary equipment (balls, pinnies, practice cones, whistles, and lock box keys) will be provided to the head coach of each team during the coaches’ meeting held prior to the start of each season.  Other equipment such as first aid supplies, corner flags, pumps/needles, and other miscellaneous supplies can be found in the lock boxes located at each field location.

Anyone needing additional equipment after distribution can email the equipment manager at

4th-12th Grade Coaches Please Read

Players wear Blue/White reversible jerseys and every season coaches ask which color is Home vs Away. Here is how to understand which color to wear:

HOME TEAMS wear BLUE and are listed first in the match up (which is a standard for MLS and FIFA). For example, Team 2 Gr 4-5 Girls vs. Team 4 Gr 4-5 Girls  (Team 2 is the BLUE team, Team 4 is the AWAY/WHITE team)

You may also see on your Team Page in the Next 10 Events schedule a game that reads: (h) vs Team 4 Gr 4-5 Girls. Again, the first team is the HOME team vs the AWAY team.

This really matters for the girl's teams as boys can flip jerseys if needed. Coaches should just "go with the flow" and not make a big deal of which color shirt. If you coach a boy's team, just flip to another color.  Girls teams, best to have your players wear a tank top or t-shirt under jersey in case there is confusion on the color of the jersey.

It's the best we can do at this time as the scheduling system only indicated Home/Away.
